To address the emergency situation from the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake of late April, followed by a second powerful earthquake two weeks later, WHR established multipurpose women Centre (MPWC) established by Women for Human Rights, single women group (WHR) in financial and technical support of UN Women which was able to reach over 2,615 beneficiaries, providing immediate relief, referral services, psycho-social counseling and Awareness program identifying the of Earthquake survivors.
To delegate the responsibility and ownership of multipurpose women Centre (MPWC) from WHR to Tarkeshwor Municipality, Kathmandu Women and Children Office and Tarkeshwor Single Women Group 29th January 2016, WHR formally handover the center to Municipality. The program was chaired by Anita Adhikari Chief of Women and Children Development Office, Kathmandu, Ziad Sheikh- UN Women, Country Representatives and Representatives of WHR and local stake holders.
