Fifty-three years old Sabina Nepal, a single woman, is a resident of Hathigauda, Buddhanilkantha. Her son died in October 2020 after three days her daughter-in-law gave birth to her grandson. Her grandson was born with clubfoot, a condition in which a newborn’s foot or feet appears to be rotated internally at the ankle. The foot points down and inwards and the soles of the feet face each other. As a treatment, it requires 8 times plastering, then a surgery and after that the child needs to wear correction shoes for few years for at least up to the age of 6 years.
Sabina faced terrible financial setbacks as all the money she had was spent on her son’s treatment who was seriously injured in an accident. Her son was the only breadwinner in her family. WHR provided her a financial assistance after she approached the WHR’s central office seeking support for her grandson’s treatment.
