Dimu Tamang, a 26-year-old resident of Nuwakot, faced adversity when her husband’s illness left her with a substantial debt and the responsibility of caring for their two young children. Struggling to find work due to her daughter’s needs, she lived in a fragile mud house, and malnutrition plagued her family. Emergency support from a women’s rights organization (WHR) provided crucial relief.

Dimu seized an opportunity to improve her skills through a 7-day incense-making training program. Initially hesitant, she gained confidence, sold her products to WHR, and established a relationship with a local shop for further sales. Dimu’s journey showcases the transformative potential of empowerment initiatives, illustrating how determination and support can lead to resilience and entrepreneurship in the face of adversity.
