WHR founder Thapa receives International Human Rights Award-2020

Lily Thapa, Founder of Women for Human Rights, single women group (WHR), has been conferred with the prestigious International Human Rights Award-2020.

The award is an international felicitation to the humanitarian engagement of WHR in various sectors, especially pertaining to safeguarding the rights of single women in the country and their empowerment. The latest comes the relief efforts undertaken by WHR in the distribution of free food and relief materials to thousands of citizens in need during the nationwide lockdown in the wake of the current COVID-19 pandemic. Lily and her team at WHR, with the support of local communities, fed cooked meals to more than 40,000 families of daily-wage earners throughout the initial lockdown period of three months.
