June 3-5 update: Dharmasthali

 

Protection Intervention for Vulnerable people in Emergency through Multipurpose women center program supported by UNWOMEN, WHR conducted three different programs for women survivors in Tarkeshwor-13, Dharmasthali from 3-5 June. Basically, the programs aimed at collecting cases from the women survivors, providing them psycho-social counseling, identifying their health related problems, raising health awareness and referring for their medical treatment through free health camp. Sixty women from physical, social, mental and economic condition were present on the program.
On 3rd of June, WHR provided group trauma healing to the women survivors through three different refreshment games where the women shared their psychological conditions after the quake with our counselor Ms. Khina Rijal.
The next day, in collaboration with Y Peer Nepal, WHR provided a session on menstrual hygiene where the participants learnt about the ways of using sanitary pads, safety disposal of sanitary pads and understood the needs of avoiding ill cultural practices during menstruation.
Whereas on the third day of the program, WHR coordinated with Aanandaban Hospital, Lele, after the assessment of health related issues of the women survivors. Thirty-five women were referred for the health check-ups and the class was conducted related to personal health, sanitation, hand-washing techniques, water purification techniques etc. were given to fifty-seven participants.
